Rachael Antwi is a systems strategist transforming how capital, climate and artificial intelligence (AI) intersects to shape the future of sustainable finance in Africa.

As Group Head of Sustainability, Sustainable Finance & Environmental and Social Risk Management at Ecobank, she leads sustainability, climate risk, and ESG integration across 33 countries—the most expansive footprint of any African financial institution. She has helped mobilize over $550 million in sustainability-linked capital, led the Group’s net zero strategy, and driven regulatory and DFI alignment with global standards, including the Paris Agreement’s Article 2.1(c ). Ecobank is the first commercial bank in sub-Saharan Africa to be accredited by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), a designation now overseen under her sustainability and risk governance function.

Rachael also serves as Deputy Regional Chair for International Capital Markets Association, shaping global market standards. A Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Scientist, and former Non-Executive Director of the Centre for Environmental Rights (2019–2023), she is also a paid keynote speaker and media commentator on ESG, sustainable finance, and African capital market reform.

She holds an MSc in Sustainability and is currently completing her MBA at the University of Oxford, with a focus on sustainability, finance, AI.
