Helen Lubamba is an Executive Director and the Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Stanbic Bank Zambia, a member of the Standard Bank Group. She sits on the Board of Stanbic Bank Zambia and is the immediate former Board Chairperson of Liberty Life Insurance Zambia Limited.
She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mathematics, Operational Research and Economics, with the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, a Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance with the Frankfurt School of Finance in Germany and is a CGMA/CIMA designation holder.
Helen’s career spans over 25 years in financial services, primarily in the investment banking, corporate finance, and insurance sectors. Previous positions held include that of Head of Investor Relations at Liberty Holdings in Johannesburg, South Africa; Regional Financial Controller at XL Catlin, Senior Associate at Lehman Brothers, Business Analyst at Citi Group, all in London, United Kingdom.
Recent notable achievements have been in energy finance, providing leadership and executive sponsorship to financial closure of three milestone energy deals aligned to the Bank’s commitment to growth in the power and energy sector with a focus on renewable energy projects.
With the reality of the adverse impact of climate finance, the deals have included structuring emergency power imports, and financing solar plants with one by way of underwriting a green bond issuance, and another via project finance debt.
