Mr. Innocent Yonazi

Innocent Yonazi is a seasoned strategist, governance and leader in sustainability, possessing over a decade of expertise in advancing transformative initiatives within the banking sector. Currently serving as the Head of Investor Relations and Sustainability Lead at NMB Bank Plc in Tanzania, he oversees the implementation of the bank’s sustainability strategy, thereby positioning NMB as a purpose-driven financial institution. Under his leadership, NMB was named ‘Best Sustainability Bank in Africa 2025’ by Euromoney. He has been instrumental in driving the early adoption of global sustainability and the establishment of NMB’s carbon inventory accounting, hence, helping the bank demystify the complexities associated with emissions tracking and reporting, thus laying a solid foundation for long-term climate accountability and transparency.

Innocent is a certified Business Communication Professional and holds a Master of Laws in Corporate Governance and International Business from Lancaster University, an LLB (Hons) from the University of Liverpool, a Certificate in Corporate Law and Governance from the London School of Economics, Certificate in Sustainability from Saïd Business School at Oxford University. He is also a distinguished alumnus of the IFC Green Bond Technical Assistance Program (GB-TAP), and holds a Certificate in Sustainable Financing (Financing A Just Transition, with Nature, Biodiversity and Social Impact) from IFC.

Innocent is an active thought leader and advocate for green, social, and sustainable financing as an effective mechanism to promote, just, inclusive and sustainable social-economic development. Innocent is currently pursuing an MBA in Strategic Leadership and Sustainability at Robert Kennedy College, Switzerland.
